Complete the worksheet on Getting to Know your Textbook.
As a class go over the directions on mind mapping on pages xiii-xiv. Examine the overhead of the "ANIMALS" mindmap. Then, complete Activity 1A-What Does Science Mean to Me? Include discussion question number 3 (be sure to use complete sentences!)
Discuss the branches of science. Focus in on just chemistry to see the fields of Chemistry. Look at the various career choices you can have in Chemistry.
Take notes on and discuss the "Scientific Method".
Do the Penny Experiment Demo to create 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for class work.
