EARTHSCIENCE - DAY ONE - Science 8
It is expected that students will:
- demonstrate how properties can be used to distinguish among minerals
- describe the major processes by which rocks are formed and classified
- compare and contrast weathering, erosion, and deposition
- Give Notes on the Introdution to Geology:
- What is Geology? Why do we study the earth and rocks? Why study weathering, erosion, deposition?
- Take brief notes on the layers of the earth
- Draw the earth and label the layers of the earth. Read the information on this site!
- Video: Rocks and Minerals
- Show samples of Rocks and Minerals, write down some differences you can see.
- Take notes on Minerals and Properites of Minerals
- Discuss Mohs Hardness Scale and look at the kits to see how they work.
- This web site has information about tons of minerals and their properties!
- Go to it and find ONE mineral that you are interested and write down its physical characteristics and some other interesting information about it.(10 marks)
