The year is 2054, and aliens have landed on the planet earth. They have decided to share one of their most treasured abilities with the peoples of earth. They have the abiltiy to communicate telepathically (read eachother's minds). The aliens are in negociations with the Leader of earth's United Federation of Lands, and are willing to grant the ability to humans in trade for one human sense - since the aliens do not have the ability to see, hear, taste, smell or feel touch in the same manner as humans.
The aliens see using a very advanced radar type system based on something similar to the crude ability that bats have. The aliens hear much like fish in the water hear, they have a 'strip' down the center of their torso that picks up vibrations as they travel through the air. The aliens have no sense of smell, and after millions of years of evolution have developed a sense of touch and taste that allows them only to feel 'pleasure' and to taste 37 different sensations (unlike our 4 - salt, sweet, bitter, and sour).
After learning a little bit about all of the human senses, the Aliens have narrowed the choice down to two senses that they would concider in trade, the ability to see as humans or the ability to hear as humans.
It is your duty as head of the "Sensory Organ Survival Group" (a group of concerned individuals who have formed a group in opposition to the trade negotiations).
You must include the following in your report :
- A Detailed diagram (you may include more than one)
- the diagram must be labeled
- all words used to label the diagram must be listed with a short definition
- a paragraph (IN YOUR OWN WORDS) about HOW the sensory organ works
- a paragraph (IN YOUR OWN WORDS) explaining why humans can not live
