Mark Review of Motion Worksheet if not done last period.
Do Quiz - Speed, Velocity and Acceleration
Mark and review homework assignment on Speed, Velocity & AccelerationOBJECTIVES:
A: Vector Kinematics in Two Dimensions (Vectors and Relative Velocity)
It is expected that students will demonstrate an ability to use vector analysis to solve problems in determining velocities, displacement, and time of travel of objects.
A10. gather and organize data, produce and interpret graphs, and determine relationships between variables
B: Vector Kinematics in Two Dimensions (Motion with Constant Acceleration)
It is expected that students will apply the concepts of motion with constant acceleration to various real-life situations.
B1. identify situations involving the use of kinematics
B2. solve problems involving:
displacement initial velocity final velocity average velocity acceleration time
2.1 Graphical Analysis of Linear Motion
a. define slope and state the equation;
b. describe how you would determine the slope of a curve;
c. use a velocity-time graph to calculated the displacement of an object;
d. determine position, average and instantaneous velocities from a position-time graph;
e. determine velocity, average and instantaneous acceleration from a velocity-time graph;
2.2 Falling Bodies
a. use the kinematic equations to solve free fall problems;
Part I - Graphing Review :
- Watch the Slide Show on Graphing Review - PDF FORMAT, or Power Point 97 Format
- Give graphing notes to review how to title; dependent variable (y-axis); independent variable (x-axis). Also how to calculate slope, and relate average, instantaneous, and constant acceleration and velocity to slope.
- Continue graphing notes to review the meaning of positive and negative slope, and how to calculate displacement using a velocity vs time graph.
