It is expected that students will:
- differentiate between the concepts of a stand-alone workstation and printer-spooling, disk-sharing, and file-sharing computer systems
- identify and analyse legal, ethical, social, and security issues related to network systems and stand-alone computer systems
- distinguish between peer-to-peer file sharing and centralized file sharing
- identify the career opportunities for and roles of persons employed in environments that use networking technology
- analyse the responsibilities of a local area network user
- analyse the functions of a local area network operator-manager and a network technician
- demonstrate an ability to manage a network of two or more computers
- apply the terminology of networks
