Grades 11-12: IT Social Impact of Electronic Communication

Part I

Introduction

Electronic communication, because of its speed and broadcasting ability, is fundamentally different from paper-based communication. This project will look at the how much the ability to exchange information electronically has changed and will continue to change our lives, our work and many societies around the world.

First of all, to put current changes in perspective, we will create a time line of important communication developments over the last 200 years.

Expected Outcomes

Student groups will produce a time line showing important developments in communication over the last 200 years. This time line will be displayed along the back wall. Each group’s section should follow a particular template that the class lays out, thus giving a uniform appearance.
