Can you believe that a town of, less than 2000 people has it's own outdoor pool!
You bet it does!

The pool is run by a volunteer society. Throughout June, July, & August the society hires lifeguards, and swimming lesson instructors. However, these people do alot more than guard and teach. They have the following responsibilites:
- daily maintanence
- cleaning the pool
- Sanitizing the changerooms and washrooms
- public relations
- suntan
- and of course, guarding and teaching
These are 3 if the 5 guards that work at the the pool. They teach the elementary school lessons while the other guards are in school. Whenever they get a break you'll find them satisfying their appetites! To be a lifeguard you've got to stay healthy!
The pool is a 25 metre pool with 6 lanes. We have a low diving board as well as a high one for all those brave souls. Our morning swimmers are a very dedicated bunch. They come there every morning to swim laps and get into shape. Right now there on there way in the "Swim To Nelson" program. 40 laps in a kilometre and 40 laps to Nelson. If you do the math that's 1600 laps. There doing a great job out there to. Great job ladies and gentlemen. We also have a family swim session and aqua fit programs. So come out and swim.
