My Friends

Amy

I met Amy in Grade 3. She was supposed to show me around the school, but I got impatient waiting for her, so Michael showed me around instead. Amy has lots of animals, at last count she had about 8 birds (4 finches, 2 budgies, 1 cockateel and 1 pigeon),5 cats,1 dog and about 4 horses. Amy, Colleen (another friend of mine), and I had lots of fun in Biology this year; basically anything would set us off into hysterics, especially when we were doing the reproductive system. Actually it would be more accurate to say that they would say something that made me start laughing, and then they started laughing too. Amy set up a website last year, so check it out if you want.

Colleen

Colleen and I met in Grade 4, but we didn't really become good friends until high school. We both share an avid interest in books, and whenever my mom gets a new shipment you can count on Colleen being at my house picking out a book to read up at her grandma's. Colleen is the other third of our biology group. Her and Amy were absolutely fascinated with taking apart animals, then they would put them back together! They even went as far as to name all of our specimens (ie. Pedro Rodrigas Gonzalas-this was the pigeon that we disected last year from like 1979, the specimens were really gross). Collen's favorite songs include: "Don't Know Much About History" (me and Stephanie also like this song), "I Can See Clearly Now The Rain Is Gone", and "It's A Beautiful Morning". Colleen also has a page somewhere on this school page, so check it out to if you have the time.

Dan

Dan is another of my friends that I met in Grade 4. Dan is..,well Dan. His moods seem to vary a lot, but if you're in a good mood and he's in a bad mood, stay away from him, because he some how manages to pass his bad moods on. A perfect description of him would be, if you've read any of Bill Watterson's "Calvin and Hobbes"comic books, well, Dan is kind of like Calvin in a weird Dan kind of way (only Dan gets way better marks in school). I mean at times Dan can be really nice, but other times he's just a complete jerk, I guess that's typical male behavior (no offence meant) in High school, or it is as far as I can tell.

Dustin

Dustin came to our school in Grade 7 from Nelson. At first we weren't sure if he was a girl or a guy, because his hair was really long, but this was cleared up on the second day of school when he showed up sporting a new, very short hair cut. I asked Dustin how he would describe himself, and his exact words were "I'm a dork-goat". What exactly that is, I'm not sure, but the name kind of reflects his attitude, since he's kind of the class clown, with some assistance from Dan, Nathan and Michael.

Joe R.

Joe is a couple years younger than me in school, but he's a really nice guy. Joe is described as "a nice guy who is always looking for the best in people." He can usually be found carrying his laptop through the school, or sitting down on one of the benches playing it, or watching someone else play it.

Joe S.

This Joe can be very obnoxious when the mood strikes him, but he can also be a fairly decent guy, at times. Joe is described by his brother as "a little rat", but I think most brothers think that of each other.

Michael

I met Michael in Grade 3. He's the one who ended up showing me around the school and we've been friends ever since. Michael is someone that others describe as "unique", and I guess you could say that he is, in some ways. He likes to do things that gain attention, so I guess his career choice is really fitting (he wants to be an actor). Michael is usually in a really good mood, but when he gets in a bad mood, he becomes depressed, it's really difficult to get him out of it.

Nathan

Nathan was in my class for a long time, but I didn't really become friends with him until a couple of years ago. I remember him in Grade 3 when he puked all over our table and everyone left the room, though, because when ever I went anywhere near him he would run away. He told me that he ran because he was afraid of anyone bigger than him at the time because a guy that he teased got really mad at him and sat on him and it had hurt him because he was kind of small at the time. Nathan says that he is "a smart, understanding, reasonable person with one of the most beautiful females for his girlfriend and, later in life, his wife" . By the way, those are his words, not mine, but girlfriend really is a nice person, she lives in Ymir, a place about ten kilometres out of Salmo. Nathan also happens to be Joe S.'s brother.

Stephanie

Stephanie has been Amy's best friend since before I came to Salmo. I have known her since Grade 3, but, like with Nathan, we weren't really friends until a few years ago. I haven't really had any classes with her in the last couple of years, but I do talk to her during break, and we are both in the lunchtime choir, which also includes Colleen, Amy, Cathy (Colleen's sister), and Stacy. She has been described as an intelligent and dedicated person, and I have to agree with that, because it is definitly true.
