Give notes starting, "USING THE PERIODIC TABLE TO PREDICT CHARGE", on page 2-4 of notes.
Handout "Table of Common Ions" sheet and explain the layout
Give notes on page 2-5 of notes starting, "NAMING IONS", explain how to name cations and anions.

Go through examples on page 2-12, 2-13 writing formula from names.Do practice problems on page 2-14
Explain the "Cross Over Technique" for writing formula as shown on page 2-17 of the notes, and go through examples on page 2-17 and 2-18.
Give notes starting "BINARY COMPOUNDS OF MULTIVALENT CATIONS", on page 2-19 to explain how to write the name given the formula.
