Evaluation
Student evaluation for this course will be determined by marks from a variety of activities. An overall percentage score will be determined from student marks according to the following breakdown:
Exams & Quizzes
Homework & Assignments
Labs & Projects
Total :60%
15%
25%
100 %A two hour final exam testing the outcomes for the whole course will be worth 20% of the course mark.
Unit Tests
At the end of each unit a one hour in class test will be given. Students who are absent for these tests will have to arrange a time to come in during tutorial block to write them or else receive a grade of 0% on that test. Students should take the initiative to arrange for these makeup tests.
Lab Reports
It is expected that each lab be written up in the format discussed during Unit One. All labs will be handed in using a "lab duo tang" which your teacher will keep at the end of the year. The data must be clearly collected and labeled and the questions done. Reports will be due at the start of the period on the due date, and deductions of marks will be made for reports handed in late. No reports will be accepted after 1 week from the due date.
Assignments and Homework
Assignments are due at the beginning of the period on the due date., deductions of marks will be made for late assignments. No assignments will be accepted after 1 week from the due date. Homework assignments can not be ‘made up’, they must be completed at the beginning of the period on the date they are due. If you are absent you must find out what you have missed and hand in your homework assignment one period after your return to class.
